The V6000, capable of carrying a crew of four
persons (for which suitable accommodations are
provided), is built in balsa sandwich, with skins
made of kevlar and glass fibres, so that very
little maintenance is required, and repairs are
relatively simple.
Hull, deck and interior structure are manufactured
to the highest military standards.
It has been built so far in two variants:
The two prototypes (built for the Italian
Custom Service) are equipped with three Seatek
engines and three Trimax propellers, each delivering
550 kW, and can achieve a maximum speed of 65
knots
The series production (10 additional vessels have
been built) is equipped with four Seatek engines
and four Trimax propellers, providing a total
of 2130 kW, and can achieve a maximum speed of
70 knot
A different engine configuration, based on two
IF engines delivering 2200 kW, has also been designed,
and can be supplied on Customer's request. The
operational range of both configurations is 320
n.m. (at a cruising speed of 40 knots).
The basic equipment installed consists of ARPA
Radar, Echosounder, GPS, communication system.
The V6000 has been specifically tailored to meet
the operational requirements of the Italian Custom
Police, which uses this FPB for its institutional
activities in controlling smuggling and illegal
immigration.
