Propelled by two MTU diesel engines, delivering
2560 kW each, the MV 85 can achieve a speed in
excess of 42 knots, with an operational range
of 850 n.m. (at a cruising speed of 18 knots).
Accommodation is provided for a crew of 13.
The basic equipment installed consists of ARPA
Radar, Navigation Radar, Geomap, Echosounder,
GPS, and Optical Weapon Control System for control
of the 30 mm. gun.
The MV 85 configuration has been specifically
tailored to meet the operational requirements
of the Italian Custom Service (Guardia di Finanza),
which uses this FPB for its institutional activities
in controlling smuggling and illegal immigration.
The characteristics of this FPB also make it the
ideal vessel for use by Coast Guards, Custom Services
or small Navies requiring a high-performance patrolling
vessel with reasonable procurement and maintenance
costs.
Because of the high flexibility of its design
and of its excellent features, the MV 85 can be
easily outfitted in different versions.
Operational ranges, different guns, electronic
equipment, are available to the specific requirements
of each customer.
