Intermarine, founded in the 1970's, is a naval shipyard
specialised in designing and manufacturing F.R.P. (Fibre
Reinforced Plastic) marine craft.
Intermarine, since September 2002 belongs to Rodriquez
Cantieri Navali a world leader company
specializing in design and construction of Aluminium and
Steel High Technology Vessels such as Fast Ferry, Military
and Special Craft and MegaYachts.
Since that acquisition Intermarine is in charge to design,
build and markets also the Rodriquez Cantieri Navali military
craft in aluminium or steel, so that although the spcialization
of Intermarine remains the F.R.P. construction the military
range of Intermarine is now iincredibly wide.
Intermarine operates two main shipyards:
Sarzana (near La Spezia),
is the headquarters of the Company, the Research and Development
Department and the main shipyard, a modern production facility
duly equipped for the construction of large vessels, with
an area of 76.000 square meters (16.000 under roof cover).
La Spezia is the outfitting yard, devoted to the outfitting
and final completion of the vessels and to acceptance testing
before delivery to the custom
The name intermarine
is historically linked to the design and construction of
sophisticated minehunters, unique ships specially equipped
for safely hunting and sweeping naval mines.
Since 1985 intermarine
has supplied, and continues to build, minehunters for many
of the world leading Navies. The reason for this success
is the innovative and unique construction
technique researched by intermarine, a technique
that has been demonstrated as ideal for the construction
of the hulls of those vessels used for mine Countermeasure
operations.
The validity of the
technical solutions carefully studied and adopted is evidenced
by fact: Navies from all over the world, some of them among
the most prestigious, have chosen intermarine to construct
or upgrade their fleet of Mine Countermeasures Vessels.
