   Lerici | Mahamiru | Ohuè | Osprey | Gaeta | Huon | Lat Ya

The two minehunters of the Ohuè Class were ordered from intermarine by the Nigerian Navy in 1983.
At that time intermarine was building the four Lerici Class minehunters for the Italian Navy and the four Mahamiru Class minehunters for the Royal Malaysian Navy, however the Nigerian Navy requirement differed from either of the above class vessels.
These requirements addressed a further variant, completely different from the one dictated by previous customers.

The hull concept and the dimension were almost the same as the previous intermarine minehunters, length 51m and displacement 540 t., while the propulsion and Combat system were completely redesigned to match the specific Nigerian Navy requests.
One sole propulsion system is installed, the ship is propelled by two MTU diesel engines driving two waterjets, giving the ship a speed in excess of 16 knots.
The same system is used both for transit navigation and for minehunting operations.
Electric power is generated by two diesel generators, located above the water line to minimise the magnetic signature and the underwater-irradiated noise.
The Combat System consists mainly of a Thomson Command and Control system, of a Thomson Sintra Hull Mounted Sonar (HMS) for mines discovery and Classification, and of two Mine Disposal Vehicles Pluto (built by Gaymarine).
The Communication system is made by Aeromaritime and the armament consists of one 30 mm. gun integrated with two 20 mm guns.
