INTERMARINE TO
LAUNCH THE G124 CAVATORTO FAST PATROL BOAT FOR THE
ITALIAN GUARDIA DI FINANZA
She is being launched on time as scheduled.
Today, July 28,2005, at 7.00
p.m., Rodriquezs Intermarine shipyard in Sarzana will launch
the Bigliani Class VI Series Fast Patrol Boat G124 Cavatorto.
The G124 Cavatorto
will be formally delivered in approximately 8 months and is an
evolution of the Bigliani class training vessels, Marino
e Pedretti developed for the Italian Navy in 1998.
She is a 27 meter, 100% composite vessel and is capable of speeds
up to 40 knots. Her highly sophisticated construction along with
Intermarines demanding quality standards combined with the
needs of the Guardia di Finanza have resulted in a vessel that
is ideally suited to her role as a coastal patrol vessel to fight
against illicit smuggling and contraband activities.
The launching cerimony is
been presided over by Gen. Walter Peruzzo, commander of the Guardia
di Finanza Regione Liguria and by the Director of the Intermarine
Yard, Mr. Edoardo Cossutta.
This latest launch is part
of a contract with the Guardia di Finanza for the supply of ten
27 meter patrol vessels along with five 35 meter patrol boats.
The G124 Cavatorto is the 9th 27 meter unit. The first, the second,
the third and the fourth have been delivered and are already in
operation.
In addition to this contract,
Intermarine in cooperation with Baglietto is also building a series
of fourteen 13.20 meter fast interceptor craft (45 knots) for
the Guardia di Finanza.
Intermarine has also been
awarded a contract by the Italian Navy for the midlife refit of
the Lerici Classminehunters previously built by Intermarine.
In cooperation with CINS and Navalcarena, Intermarine was awarded
a contract by the Italian Navy for the refitting of the Grecale
frigate.
