Ing. ALCIDE SCULATI: "PIONEER IN BOATING 2004"

At the conclusion of UCINA - SATEC's annual meeting in the evening of May 21st set in the historical Cervara Abbey in Santa Margherita, the "Boating Pioneer 2004" award was awarded to Ing. Alcide Sculati, Technical Director of Rodriquez Cantieri Navali.

UCINA, the association of Italian yacht and pleasure boat builders, presents this annual award to an individual within the recreational boating and yachting sector for their leadership and contribution to the global growth and development. Ing. Sculati's awarded was accompanied by the following quote from UCINA:

With a broad technical background, he is a leading designer of high speed and pleasure craft and was a pioneer in the use of aluminium hulls and waterjets. For the past ten years as Director of Rodriquez Engineering, the research and development centre of Rodriquez Cantieri Navali SpA, he continues to develop high technology fast ferries and works with the leading Italian shipbuilders.

Pioneer in Boating 2004

A graduate in mechanical engineering, he was Technical Director at Baglietto from 1975 to 1991 during which time he engineered and designed almost 100 industry leading yachts up to 45 meters long. Since 1991 he has been the Technical Director of Rodriquez Engineering, specialized in the technological design and research of advanced and innovative fast ships for Rodriquez Cantieri Navali. Being on the forefront of the development of fast ferries, he was the catalyst behind the technically advanced and innovative Aquastrada series that was initiated in 1993 with "Guizzo", a 100 meter car and passenger monohull with a service speed of almost 50 knots. The success of the Aquastrada production was exemplified by the "Federico Garcia Lorca", the largest fast ferry built in 2001 by Rodriquez and constructed entirely out of aluminium. At Rodriquez Engineering, Ing. Sculati continues to invest significant resources and effort in developing new designs such as the innovative fully submerged hydrofoil with improved performance and passenger comfort levels even in the most severe weather and sea conditions combined with low wake and high speed.

Rodriquez is extremely proud to have Ing. Sculati receive this award which is a reflection of the professionalism and leadership role of Rodriquez as a leading shipyard in the worldwide market.
