THE NEW CONAM 75
WIDEBODY AT THE 43rd GENOA BOAT SHOW: A 23 METER THAT THINKS SHE’S
A 30!
The new 75 WideBody, the first new
design from Conam since becoming a Rodriquez Cantieri
Navali company, offers increased volume and higher technology.
A pleasure craft created to warmly welcome friends on board
October 2003 - The 43rd Genoa
Boat Show will be the setting for the introduction of the new
Conam 75 WideBody, a sporting yet elegant yacht that will change
the concept of on-board comfort and hospitality whilst taking
the blending of technology and grace to new levels.
Compared to other yachts in her class, the main salon is much
more voluminous due to a new design concept. The two side corridors
disappear and this space is returned to the main saloon to give
the same space as that of a 30 meter boat.
A style revolution, a new space concept, a pleasure craft created
to satisfy those yacht owners who like to welcome many friends
on board, a new idea that will be the Queen of the show at the
Genoa Boat Show.
Inspired by Conam’s managing director Engineer Giuseppe
Cimino and combined with the flair of designer Francesco Paszkowski’s
pen who has styled the external and internal views, and along
with Rodriquez Yachts’ own Stefano Porcini, they have all
come together to create the ideal 75 foot pleasure boat. They
are supported by the in-house technicians specialized in the construction
of highly advanced fast ferries up to 150 meters, and more so
by the construction methods of Intermarine whose know how in lamination
processes is to a very high standard due to their rich military
background. Finally, a highly sophisticated stabilization system
engineered and designed by Rodriquez Marine System will be installed
and is similar to such systems normally found only on large high
speed ships where a smooth ride is a fundamental part of the operating
criteria.
As with the existing 60 WideBody, Conam has made full use of the
beam of the boat for the on-board space for both relaxation and
entertainment without compromising its aggressive style and hi
gh performance. With the 75 WideBody however, Conam has made great
progress in obtaining what is considered to be true luxury: space
THE WIDEBODY CONCEPT: A 24 METER THAT IS MORE LIKE A 30 METER
Focusing in on the WideBody concept, this allows for more deck
space and interior space that would normally be found on a 30
meter yacht but with all of the advantages of a boat under 24
m.
Two sets of steps from the main deck bring you to the upper deck
and flybridge. This area makes full use the space all the way
up to the bow. You therefore have at your disposal an area that
is much more useable and enjoyable which again would normally
be found only on a larger yacht.
The sensation of space is also carried through to the main deck.
As guests come on board, they are welcomed by an incredible sense
of space extending from the saloon all the way to the dining area
farther forward, separated only by a discrete half wall.
DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE
The hull, made in GRP, is designed to maintain a stable and comfortable
ride even as the she is pushed faster. The new CONAM 75 WideBody
can reach 35 knots without ever losing stability which in turn
allows for guests to relax and enjoy their cruise on board.
Power is provided by two 1550 HP Caterpillar diesel engines and
they are directly coupled to dedicated fixed pitch propellers
in a V-drive configuration. The boat has a cruising range of 400
miles and quickly reaches the cruising speed of about 30 knots
with the highest level of stability, a hallmark of Rodriquez’s
production. Also, the old concept of trim tabs have been abandoned
in lieu of a new system developed by Rodriquez Marine System,
Intruders. The Intruders are special highly efficient control
surfaces that automatically make rapid and fast movements to optimize
the longitudinal trim of the vessel in any sea conditions.
More importantly, the new CONAM 75 WideBody gets up on a plane
at a lower speed than others, even under adverse conditions, which
in turn reduces fuel costs.
THE INTERIOR
The interior, designed by Francesco Paszkowski, has a simple style
being both refined yet never excessive. The boat has large windows
that give luminosity to the interiors whilst providing the guests
with beautiful external views.
The dining room has wonderful natural light from the numerous
windows throughout this area. The
brightness of this area is complimented by the prevalent cream
color for the saloon area where natural cotton, linen and leather
combine tastefully with the wood and chrome accessories.
The saloon is designed to a simple and very elegant style. The
unique ceiling treatment dominates the circular sofa made from
navy blue leather.
There are four cabins: One for the owner and three for guests,
two of which are doubles and one a VIP cabin. Each cabin is outfitted
in a unique colour scheme. Beige, cream and bronze are used for
the owner’s, turquoise, blue and cream for the VIP cabin,
light green and natural tones for the remaining guest cabins.
In the bathrooms the floor is teak parquet with the furniture
in cherry wood. The walls are finished in a cream colour and the
stainless steel accessories provide both a modern and soft feel.
Within the sophisticated wheelhouse, designed also by Rodriquez
Marine System, there is a small sofa for guests to observe the
activities and a useful map table. The wheelhouse is accessible
from the saloon by a small stairwell and also has direct access
to the upper deck outside.
EXTERNAL ARRANGEMENTS
The boat is finished in two colours with the hull being dark blue
and the superstructure cream, though other colour combinations
are available depending on the owner’s preference.
The large aft cockpit is furnished in the same colour as the hull
as is the fly bridge. Towards the bow, there are two moulded areas
for the sun mattresses. For protection from the sun when at anchor,
there is a folding bimini cover that extends from the roll bar.
When not in use, this cover is entirely concealed in its own storage
pocket.
Thanks to the efficient use of space, the designers have created
a large garage in the stern where there is sufficient space to
store a 3.7 meter tender as well as a Jet Ski. There are two helm
stations. One in the raised pilot house located approximately
midships and the other being external on the upper deck.
Conam production includes the WideBody line and a Sport line.
The Sport line includes boats from 46 to 58 feet that are designed
to combine power and comfort in an aggressive and elegant design.
Rodriquez, as a result of the acquisition of the Intermarine shipyard,
will shortly double Conam’s current annual production. The
first Conam 75 WideBody is being launched at the Genoa Boat Show
as part of a regular production series.
The new CONAM 75 WideBody is arriving with an air of professionalism,
style and technology, all of which make her one of the most important
events at the 43rd Genoa Boat Show. The boat will be at berth
C 425. CONAM will attend the show with two others boats, one CONAM
60 WideBody and one CONAM 46 Sport, at Pavilion C upper booth
number 001.
