INTERMARINE LAUNCHES THE PATROL BOAT "G5 OLTRAMONTI" FOR THE ITALIAN GUARDIA DI FINANZA

Building times even anticipated for the third and last patrol boat Bigliani Class wich Guardia di Finanza ordered to the Sarzana Shipyard at the end of 2001.

The “Bigliani Class” V Series patrol boat “G5 Oltramonti” will be launched at 18.30 at the well-known Intermarine shipyard in Sarzana. The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Guardia di Finanza and General Castore Palmerini, chief of the Ligurian Area Command will preside, along with the proud management and workers from the shipyard. The ceremonial Godmother who will break the traditional bottle of champagne will be Mrs. Annamaria Oltramonti, a direct descendant of C.dr Aldo Oltramonti, a WWII hero who received a Medal of Honour for military valour during World War 2.

The launch of “G5 Oltramonti”, which incidentally is one month earlier than originally schedules, is the third patrol boat launched this year by Intermarine and follows the “G3 Di Bartolo” in February and the “G4 Avallone” in May. All three are part of Bigliani “V Series” Class and are 35 metre patrol boats in composite materials. The main highlights of this class of ship are the high speed of 35 knots and their operational flexibility that ideally matches the Guardia di Finanza’s needs to patrol the coasts and to fight illegal trafficking.

The “G5 Oltramonti”, which will be delivered in 8 months time, is part of a larger contract Intermarine has signed with the Guardia di Finanza for the construction, in addition to those mentioned above, of ten 27 metre long, 40 knot patrol boats. The first of this series will be delivered at the end of 2003 with the final delivery being in the latter half of 2005.

The Intermarine shipyard in Satzana has now under construction 17 vessels of various types including: ten 27 m Patrol boats, three 35 m Patrol Boats, two 118’ Wally Power yachts, one 38 m Rodriquez Yacht and the first of the new Conam 75 WideBody series.

Overall, the total number of ships currently under construction at all the Rodriquez Cantieri Navali yards is 42 with a total contractual value of about € 250 million.
